A few steps from the old center of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in a popular area, quiet and surrounded by nature, is this industrial construction that has become an artists’ residence. It integrates living spaces within a large workshop over a total surface area of 516sqm and offers a blank canvas awaiting its new rewrite.

The raw concrete enclosure interacts with the steel of the Eiffel-type frame to characterize the modernist architecture of the building, unique in this sector. Natural light penetrates the interior to the rhythm of its lattice windows and gives the building a changing atmosphere which evolves throughout the day. The intimate garden transcended by the surrounding nature makes it a peaceful place in the city center. Built in the 1940s and reinvested in the 1980s by a painter and sculptor as a living and creative space, this house-workshop opens onto a monumental volume paved with natural stones where several distinct modules follow one another which ensure the coherence of life, between intimacy and community. A first apartment includes a living room with kitchen area in which a large bay window opens onto the garden to illuminate the space and continues onto a large bedroom with a hanging terrace. A bathroom and a dressing room complete this space. On the other side, a second independent apartment consists of a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. An additional room now serves as a bedroom.

In the outbuilding, a reserve and an annex room with access to the garden still offer a multitude of possibilities to the potential of this rare property.
