Historic house from the 18th century
This beautiful building dating from the 18th century is located in the heart of the historic town center of Belley. Originally the residence of the Cyvoct family, it was later acquired to serve as a meeting place for the three orders under the old regime: the clergy, the nobility and the third estate. The house hosted the local Estates General of 1789 before being sold as national property. The monumental portal which opens onto the main courtyard, made in 1770 by Michel Lorrain, master locksmith in Belley, constitutes a remarkable work. The front door, surmounted by an oval shield bearing the provincial coat of arms, the work of the artist Albert, leads to a majestic entrance hall with an inscribed staircase.
The right wing, on the ground floor, has preserved its old-world charm, with a state living room with walls decorated with woodwork, a striking French ceiling, an open fireplace, a dining room clad in marble pink, a kitchen to be refurbished, a technical room and a pantry, now transformed into a bathroom. The left wing was intended for professional use, consisting of two rooms, one of which was in the old chapel.
Upstairs, the right wing houses a bedroom with bathroom and dressing room, as well as a bedroom with shower room. In the left wing, a large bright living room with French ceiling and open fireplace, as well as a library above the chapel, decorated with stained glass windows and a ribbed ceiling. The first floor also includes an apartment to renovate, accessible from the ground floor scullery or from the main entrance. This T3 apartment includes two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room with fireplace, a bathroom and a technical room. The second floor is occupied by a bedroom with bathroom and three attics revealing a superb inscribed framework.
The exteriors, apart from the main courtyard, include an interior courtyard with a workshop and a storage room, as well as a garage and a cellar below it. This place combines both a rich historical heritage, an unparalleled architectural quality, and offers a great field of opportunities for different redevelopment projects. Ideal for a family wishing to plan ahead or for investors.
