Deconsecrated chapel in the heart of the Hautes-Vosges mountains

Situated 10 minutes from La Bresse, in a region with strong tourist potential and unspoilt natural surroundings, this chapel was built in 1901 and then desanctified in the early 2010s. It now offers 555 m² of floor space on 68 acres of land, some of which can be built on, and is ideal for a range of projects, from organising events to creating unusual gîtes or an unusual place to live.

Following its desecration, when a takeover project threatened to destroy it, an entrepreneur from Nancy took a stand and decided to buy the building in order to preserve it. He also ensured that the bells continued to ring out the hours. For more than 10 years, it has been the venue for a variety of cultural events, including exhibitions by painters, sculptors and photographers, as well as concerts, thanks to its acoustics.

Built in the neo-Romanesque style, it features impressive 60 cm thick ashlar walls. Built to a traditional plan, it has a central nave, two aisles, a transept and an apse, all of which face north rather than east.

It has remained unchanged since it was built, with the exception of the bell tower, which was reduced in height following a fire. The two world wars left the church untouched, although some shrapnel can still be seen. Unfortunately, the original stained glass windows could not be preserved, but 14 of the 17 windows have been restored to their original condition.

Now equipped with a layout that is ideal for organising events, notably thanks to its professional kitchen (sold separately), this charming property could also become an exceptional place to live, close to nature.
