Buying a fine property
Do you have a love affair with fine properties ? Like the idea of an investment in stone that could stand the test of time ?

In common parlance, the term demeure (fine property) refers to a large and beautiful house. A period property with real cachet and a high market value.

Many different types of outstanding prestige properties fall into this category, including maisons de maître with their imposing architecture, châteaux with their royal overtones, private mansions and manor houses.

Depending on their location, fine properties may also take other forms, for example a bastide or mas in Provence, or private mansions in cities.
A fine property of character or a fine property that’s all about luxury ?
The majority of fine properties were originally built for public figures, doctors, solicitors or barristers, all of whom were keen to demonstrate their prestigious social status in stone.
In our collective imaginations, these fine properties are passed from parents to children over the years. A true heritage property inherited by sons from their fathers.

In the vocabulary of property, many other terms are used to describe properties of this kind, including a fine property of character, a prestigious fine property or an outstandingly fine property. What they all have in common is that they are character properties distinctive for their architectural style, design, the high-quality materials used in their construction, and/or their floor area.

These are beautiful homes in which it’s easy to imagine children running happily down the stairs or hosting lavish birthday parties.
